How is a client classified at TokenKey?

General information on the classification process in accordance with MiFID II.

At TokenKey, the client classification process is carried out as follows:

1.Registration and verification

During the registration process, clients are required to complete identification and verification procedures (KYC), in accordance with the applicable regulations on the prevention of money laundering and terrorist financing.

2.Assessment of experience and knowledge

As part of the process, clients may be required to complete a questionnaire intended to collect information regarding their experience and knowledge in relation to certain financial products or services, in line with the requirements set out in MiFID II.

Client classification

Based on the information provided and the results of the questionnaire, the client will be classified into one of the following categories:

Retail client

Includes clients who do not meet the criteria to be considered professional clients. In this category, higher information requirements and certain regulatory safeguards provided for under the applicable regulations apply.

Professional client

Includes clients who, in accordance with the regulations, possess the experience, knowledge and capacity necessary to assess the risks associated with certain financial products or services. In these cases, information requirements differ from those applicable to retail clients.

Information on classification

Once the category has been determined, the client is informed of their classification and of the associated regulatory implications, in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Client classification is intended to apply the information requirements and regulatory safeguards provided for under the regulations and does not constitute advice nor a guarantee of the suitability of the products or services for the client’s individual situation.
